Archive, marketplace and bridge to Japan.
K89 connects preservation work with real objects and real access. We research and document Japanese media and technology, build localization and preservation projects, sell selected Japanese goods internationally, and help people locate items that are difficult to buy outside Japan.
The idea is simple: memory is carried by more than files. A cartridge, trading card, game box, MiniDisc, controller, handheld device or obsolete interface contains evidence of a particular time, market and culture.
K89 treats those details as part of the historical record rather than disposable packaging around the “important” part.
