International Air Packet
Best for lower-value, lightweight orders where keeping the delivered cost low is the priority.
All K89 orders ship from Japan. Shipping is calculated from the destination and the final packed parcel, so combining multiple items is often substantially more economical than shipping them separately.
Pokémon trading cards may also have value-based U.S. import duty. The exact amount is calculated before payment from the packed weight, shipping method, product classification and merchandise value.
| Example order | Packed weight / value | Postage | U.S. duty | Customs / processing | Total shipping + import charges |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pokémon card | ≤100 g / ¥600 value | ¥1,200 | ¥75 | ¥600 | ¥1,875 |
| Pokémon card | ≤100 g / ¥5,000 value | ¥1,200 | ¥625 | ¥600 | ¥2,425 |

Examples are not flat-rate quotes. *The ¥0 duty examples assume the specific book or recorded-media item qualifies as informational material under the current U.S. rules. Product classification, origin, dimensions and packed weight control. The checkout quote is authoritative.
Tracking and insurance are not the same thing. K89's two primary Japan Post services have different speed and compensation terms.
Best for lower-value, lightweight orders where keeping the delivered cost low is the priority.
Better for higher-value, fragile or time-sensitive orders where compensation matters more than the lowest postage price.

Japanese Pokémon trading cards are not currently duty-free for U.S. import. K89 presently estimates 12.5% U.S. duty on qualifying Japan-origin Pokémon cards classified under HTS 9504.40.
Qualifying recorded music is treated as informational material under the current U.S. Section 301 action, so the examples below carry ¥0 additional Section 301 duty.
Qualifying books and publications are informational materials. A 500 g packed book currently falls in the ¥2,040 U.S. Air Packet postage tier.
Qualifying phonograph records are also included in the informational-material exemption. Actual LP shipping depends heavily on the protective mailer and packed weight.
International postage is based primarily on the packed parcel rather than the number of products inside it. K89's import-processing reserve is also applied at parcel level.
In this real K89 checkout example, adding the second SACD increases shipping and import-processing charges by only ¥420.
For eligible U.S. orders, Japan Post International Air Packet is generally K89's lowest-cost tracked option. Japan Post lists an approximate delivery time of 5–21 days. It is an air-mail small-parcel service for packages up to 2 kg. Tracking is included, no delivery signature is required, and Japan Post provides no compensation for loss or damage.

EMS remains available as Japan Post's fastest international postal option and as a fallback for orders that cannot use International Air Packet. Typical U.S. delivery is about 3–7 days, although the actual standard varies by origin, destination and customs clearance. U.S. EMS currently starts at ¥3,900 for parcels up to 500 g. EMS includes loss/damage compensation up to ¥20,000 at no additional charge; the compensation amount can be increased by ¥20,000 for each additional ¥50, up to ¥2,000,000.
K89 calculates supported U.S. import charges before payment rather than leaving an unexpected duty amount for delivery. The current checkout treatment includes:

Orders to other countries may be subject to import duty, VAT, GST, customs-clearance charges or other taxes imposed by the destination country. Unless K89 explicitly states that those charges are prepaid, they remain the recipient's responsibility.
K89 declares commercial shipments as accurately as possible, including merchandise description, customs value, HS classification and country of origin. “Ships from Japan” does not necessarily mean “Made in Japan.” K89 does not mark commercial purchases as gifts, intentionally undervalue merchandise or provide false customs information.
Add the products you want to your cart and enter the destination at checkout. K89 calculates the available shipping methods, packed weight, postage, applicable U.S. import duty and processing charge before you pay.
